Like any local community, the policies and decisions shaping the character and future of Lower Sunbury are influenced by a combination of local and national government initiatives, alongside market forces and vested interests operating within these frameworks. As with many areas, Lower Sunbury faces challenges stemming from an aging infrastructure, rapid urban development, increasing traffic congestion, and other pressures that impact both quality of life and the distinctive character of the neighbourhood.
In collaboration with local authorities, other residents’ associations and amenity groups, LOSRA plays a vital role in addressing fundamental issues that affect its members' lives. This organisation not only engages with broader strategic concerns but also focuses on the everyday matters that shape community well-being.

Riverside Youth Theatre Announces:
"Did you know that Sunbury has its own Youth Theatre Group, based at the Riverside Arts Centre and that it has been providing wonderful performance opportunities and productions for decades starring local young people aged between 12-18 years? Many have gone on to become professionals and are working in the industry today.

Celebrated British jazz pianist Jason Rebello was labelled a veteran by critics at 19 and over the next decade won most of the major jazz music awards.

Classically trained but inspired by Herbie Hancock, he came to the attention of one of the founders of jazz fusion, Weather Report’s saxophonist Wayne Shorter. Impressed by his musical fluency and style, Shorter produced his No 1 debut album A Clearer View October 1990 Novus PD 90527.

By 1992 Jason’s musical talent and endearing personality enabled him to feature in a wide range of media projects including Artrageous BBC 2 which Janet Street-Porter invited him to present. Popular and confident, Jason chose to produce his second album Keeping Time. He invited a wealth of his musical friends to feature including soul diva Jocelyn Brown and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
2023 Boundary Review
Constituency boundaries are changing, and it's your final chance to help shape the new map.
The Boundary Commission for England (BCE) is required by Parliament to undertake an independent and impartial review of all constituencies in England, to rebalance the number of electors in each constituency.
Constituency sizes currently vary widely due to population changes since the last boundary review. The new map proposed by the Commission will make sure each constituency has between 69,724 and 77,062 electors, so that each MP represents roughly the same number of electors. The 2023 Boundary Review also requires that the number of constituencies in England increases from 533 to 543.
The Commission has listened to the feedback sent in from the public, and have changed nearly half of the initial proposals published last year. The new revised proposals are now available to view via an interactive map on the consultation website www.bcereviews.org.uk.
A final public consultation is open now until 5 December and is the last chance to provide your views on new constituency boundaries. The Boundary Commission for England has invited the public to visit www.bcereviews.org.uk and comment on the proposals via the website, email or letter. Hard copies of the proposals are available to view at public places of deposit listed on the Boundary Commission for England website. You can give your feedback on anything from where the proposed electoral boundaries are, to the suggestions for new constituency names.

Future bus network review
Surrey County Council are currently reviewing bus services in Surrey and want your views on what they invest in, introducing more on-demand buses and changes to some routes.
To help shape the Future Bus Network, Surrey County Council are running a public consultation from Thursday, 3 November 2022 to Friday, 6 January 2023.
The Milk Men Blues & Rock Band at the SCC on 18th November
On Friday 18th November Sunbury Cricket Club welcomes for the first time THE MILK MEN. It’s actually a long-overdue welcome back for one member, namely Adam Norsworthy, the dynamic singer and guitarist front-man for The Mustangs, who have been popular regulars over the years at our Music Nights and Beer Festivals.
Along with Adam, The Milk Men feature bass player Lloyd Green, son of Mick Green, the legendary guitarist with Johnny Kidd & The Pirates and later simply The Pirates, plus former Pirates drummer Mike Roberts and singer Jamie Smy.
The highly acclaimed four piece have been going down a storm at all the right venues across the UK with their all-action show that features great original songs alongside blues-rock classics. We can guarantee a proper rocking high-class Music Night show, and we can let you know that Adam is raring to go on his return to the Club.

Spelthorne Natural History Society - Guest Speaker on 9th November
Spelthorne Natural History Society announces details of the November indoor meeting that will be on Wednesday, 9th November at:Charlton Village Hall, 83 Hetherington Road, Shepperton TW17 0SN.Doors open at 8 pm - we start at 8.15.
This month we are delighted to welcome back to SNHS, Dr. Erica McAlister. Erica McAlister Hon. FRES is an entomologist and Senior Museum Curator at The Natural History Museum in London. She is an expert in flies and has presented many programmes about flies on both television and radio.
Her talk is entitled: Bums, tums and knobbly bits - why flies are great! Entrance is free to all meetings for members of SNHS.Non-members are welcome to attend any meeting – entrance charge £3.

River Thames Scheme Consultation Dates
The River Thames Scheme (EA/Surrey Floodrisk Scheme for Egham to Teddington) have published the attached dates for their in-person consultations.

Steve Waterman to Accompany the Terence Collie Trio at the RAC on 6th November
As a jazz trumpet player, composer, arranger and educator, Steve Waterman is one of the top British British jazz artists both at home and on the international scene.
He began his career while studying at Trinity College Of Music, and since then has worked regularly on the British, European and International jazz scene.
He will be joining the Terence Collie Trio at the Riverside Arts Centre at 8pm on Sunday 6th November.
Graffiti Tags on Sunbury Park Wall - Council Acts!
Following a report from LOSRA to the Neighbourhood Manager, Joint Enforcement and Community Safety Teams at Spelthorne Council, we received the following email from him today. We are very grateful to him and his team for their prompt response:
"Thank you for your email concerning the graffiti on both the front and back of the wall at Green Street. I have this morning met with our Borough building services team Manager on site and discussed the issue. As you will appreciate, the wall is very old and any work to clear the graffiti will need some thought. It has been agreed that we cannot Jet Wash the area as we would normally do as this will cause further damage to the wall. A specialist cleaning contractor has been spoken to and we have sent him photos of the damage and he will hopefully do some testing with material to see what would be best within the next week. Thereafter depending on these results we will look to remove all of the graffiti, however, the final removal will not be until sometime around the middle of November due to their commitments."

The plot of land owned by Angle Properties at the top of Hazelwood Drive has been bought by Bellway Homes subject to planning permission. It is proposed to build 67 homes including 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom properties from two to three-storeys.Lower Sunbury River Crossing - Update
It's very welcome news that Surrey County Council and both Spelthorne and Elmbridge councils are supportive and currently giving the cycle/footbridge very serious consideration.
Regular visitors to this site, readers of our newsletters and Sunbury Matters will know that our Association has been campaigning for a river crossing at Lower Sunbury for many years.

Fire and Water Rock Band Returns to the SCC on 14th October
The next Music Night at Sunbury Cricket Club is on Friday 14th October, when the Club is delighted to welcome back a band who played one of first Music Nights more than 12 years ago, and who have headlined one of our Beer & Music Festivals in the past.
Capturing the spirit and music of Free, Bad Company and Led Zeppelin, Fire & Water comprise Paul Cox, who Radio 2’s Paul Jones says has “one of the best voices in Europe” and has worked with Ray Charles, Eric Clapton and others; guitarist Mike Summerland, who was with Blodwyn Pig, Georgie Fame and William Bell; bass player Al Maclean, formerly with Kokomo and Hershey & The 12 Bars; and drummer Jim Russel, whose background includes Stretch, Scotty Moore, Curved Air, Desmond Dekker and others.
An evening of top quality rock and blues is absolutely guaranteed, and it will be a classic Sunbury Music Night.
