Modular Nursery Building Proposed in Cedars Park, Green Street

LOSRA has received a number of queries regarding the proposed modular nursery building to be sited on the north side of the existing car park and located to the immediate right (when entering) of the main vehicular access point to the Cedars park site in Green Street. There are currently car parking spaces on site but it is not proposed to increase the existing capacity. The Association is well aware that the car park is frequently used by parents dropping off children at nearby schools and as an overflow car park for the Sunbury Health Centre. Concerns have been expressed by residents that the car park fills up at peak times and that the installation of the proposed nursery building will exacerbate the problem.

Not having been notified directly, we heard about this application a bit late in the day; and it will be noted that the closing date for representations falls on 16th October. This said, the Planning Committee is obliged to consider all representations made up to the date of Planning Committee which will not be held until November. If you wish to make a representation, this may be completed online by visiting http://my.spelthorne.gov.uk/planning/ and searching Planning Reference 15/00614/FUL

Money talks why is there no car parking charge on this car park ? Every other one in Sunbury has double standards yet again by Spelthorne ?

One wonders how many other parcels of Council-owned open land are being offered for development? Perhaps one of our local councillors would like to tell us?

This land is Protected Urban Open Space. So was the London Irish ground, on which they are now building 198 dwellings.

However, there is no way that any Inspector can claim that this ground is not "Open", as one did with London Irish. The fields and the car park are constantly used by the public. This will be a test for the Council as to how much they care about land which is protected just short of Green Belt protection. There may well be a need for nursery places, but that is only because over-development has been allowed in the past. Catering for such need on open land should not be allowed.

I'm outraged. This is the only public playing fields that children can use in Sunbury. Do the council not care about children having a healthy lifestyle? Reducing the area children can play will impact on their health. I take my children here every week.
Instead of shoe-horning houses into every space why haven't they built a proper nursery for children on land that is meant for development instead of using a playing field.

I am surprised any park land is 'available for tender' even for educational use as quoted by the Council's consulting surveyors in the light of the Local Plan. As such this is the lesser of all evils as the car park is officially for tender. Traffic on Green Street and Thames Street is worsening already though. Will LOSRA put the economic case to Spelthorne and Surrey Councils to fund and lobby for more raised tables in as they are quite ineffective in so few numbers and/or remove or improve some of the junction traffic signals dotting Nursery Road (A244) and the A308 which gnarl up the roads network and choke residential areas!
