Eco Park Public Meeting - 7pm, Thursday 13th JuneSurrey County Council will be hosting a public meeting at Spelthorne Borough Council, Knowle Green, on Thursday 13th June at 7pm.

The meeting will begin with a presentation by SCC, followed by a question and answer session chaired by Richard Hewitt of the Shepperton Residents' Association.

Residents will be aware from the extensive coverage given to the Eco Park on this Site, that its proposed installation is a matter of great controversy within our local community. If you plan to attend and to help ensure there is space for all those interested, you are asked to contact SCC's waste management team on 03456 009 009 or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. After attending the meeting on Thursday evening, I am even more convinced that this so called Eco Park is a dangerous accident waiting to happen. Poisonous fumes being emitted from the stack and the residents being close to the burner which operates at over 700 degrees when taking their refuse to the site.
This process is unproven anywhere in the world and is too close to residential areas and schools.
SITA were unable to advise any safety
plans to date, and this after 3 years
    of planning.
It would seem that SCC want to put this scheme in at any cost and are ignoring the wishes of the residents.
Safety is being compromised by SCC as indicated by eminent chartered engineers and a toxicologist.
Have LOSRA asked OUR MP to lobby the other local MP's as this will affect their residents as well not just in Spelthorne?

A very well attended meeting with residents not holding back when expressing their views. I discovered a new euphemism for kicking something into the long grass: ..."yes, well that is the subject of an ongoing review". This was the shameful answer to a safety question which has been repeatedly asked over the last three years by one of the LOSRA Committee members. Not good enough.
