In brief, we believe that there is little of benefit to Sunbury residents from the proposals, with nearly all of the benefits being focussed upstream in the Egham/Walton stretch of the river.
The forecast benefit to the Lower Sunbury stretch of the river, in terms of reduced river levels in times of flooding, is minimal.
Moreover, the proposed additional weir cutting across Sunbury Lock Ait will inevitably be visually damaging.
An obvious offset to these significant drawbacks would be the incorporation of a pedestrian/cycle bridge at Sunbury. We encourage you to support this longstanding LOSRA proposal now - this is the perfect opportunity.
