National Planning Policy Framework; LOSRA's Draft Response

Rate this item
(9 votes)

Matt CartoonThe draft LOSRA response to the National Planning Policy Framework is necessarily a bit lengthy, but residents are asked to put aside a few minutes to read and to comment before the final version is sent to the Department of Communities and Local Government.

On such an important issue, LOSRA wants to be sure that it speaks for the majority membership before submission.

If you wish to comment please Contact Us by 10th October. Thank you.

Thank you John for sharing your very comprehensive draft response to the National Planning Policy Framework consultation.
I agree with all the points you make . I too would be very concerned to think that it will become much easier for developers to obtain planning permission more easily.

The draft response document is complex. However it is difficult to envisage how it can be otherwise given the various ramifications of the extant planning system (which despite it's failures has as observed, served us reasonably well in the past), and the potentially disastrous effects which may arise from the governments ill considered 'easements' to the process and loaded heavily in favour of 'presumption of sustainability',the reduction of control of developers, and the longer term erosion of the planning system/expertise of officers that are involved.

Your draft highlights a comprehensive number of factors that are essential to be raised.

I hope that the recipients of the final LOSRA NPPF response will have sufficiently open minds to take the LOSRA (and other groups) responses on board, and correct their seeming lack of planning understanding. Unfortunately cynicism would suggest the likely outcomes to be otherwise.

You have my support and agreement for all you have written, and thanks for your/LOSARA excellent work and obvious thought and effort.
