Cattle Grazing Trial in Sunbury Park Starts 3rd September

(8 votes)

After a number of false starts (see articles of 21/1/14, 7/3/14 & 3/7/14) the cattle grazing in Subury Park will start on 3rd September with a two month trial.

We are not certain how the trial will be monitored nor how it will be judged to have been a success or failure.

The Friends of Sunbury Park (FoSP) have been closely involved in this project from its inception and will doubtless publicise the results in due course.

Why has the grass been mowed for the arrival of the cattle who were supposed to eat it ?

How will they be monitored & sufficient water supply be enabled ? Who will clear up after them & how often

Why is this still going ahead despite over riding objections by park users re the mess of cowpats etc.

This appears a vanity project by the Council. There are risks and inconvenience to residents and where is the positive benefit. I am a big supporter of SWT and what they are doing in Chobham etc, but this is a semi-urban park - it's madness... Does something have to go wrong before people see sense ??

I must say I am worried about ticks and the probable mess caused by cowpats. I'm trying to think of an upside. I suppose we will all have to monitor it.
