As followers will know, Sunbury Park won The Green Flag Award for 2025. Below are the comments from the judges that led to them making the award. They are great compliments and an inspiration to everybody involved in managing Sunbury Park for all its users.
"This is an impressive heritage parkland and meadows that successfully manage to provide a much loved and attractive open space for local people and visitors, whilst preserving and restoring the extensive meadow areas for wildlife. The management team have clearly implemented key recommendations from previous judging visits, in particular the production of a new management plan, the installation of new signage and their continued close working with the Friends Group. They are to be commended on their ongoing dedication to preserving and promoting the parks meadows and habitats and resisting any pressures to over develop the site. The cattle grazing programme is an asset and will sensitively restore the meadows whilst providing interest and education for local people. The teams ongoing dialogue with local, the Friends group and the farmer combined with good use of information and publicity all ensure the safety of both the cattle and the public. I’m delighted to be able to award Sunbury Park and Orchard Meadows with a well deserved Green Flag and I know they already have a flag pole in place for it! Congratulations".
