The next Music Night on Friday 27th July will no doubt be very different but equally entertaining when Sunbury Cricket Club welcomes for the first time with his own band ZOOT MONEY & THE BIG ROLL BAND.
Zoot has played at the Club previously with the Barnes Blues Band, and was keen to bring his own show to the Club as well. Zoot is a keyboard player and singer, always associated with the Hammond organ, and is a legendary figure on the British music scene, having been a pioneer of the R&B sound in Soho in the early ‘60s with the Big Roll Band, who had a hit in 1966 with “Big Time Operator” before morphing into Dantalian’s Chariot as part of the psychedelic movement of the times.
He was with Eric Burdon’s New Animals in the USA during the 70s, and has played and recorded with a host of major names over the years, as well as working in TV and film production and becoming a character actor himself. He recently released an album “Book of Life….I’ve Read It”, and will be featuring some material from that alongside his usual top class soul and R&B show.
He appears regularly with his band and with Alan Price at the Bull’s Head Barnes, and is one of the great personalities in British music. There’s plenty of interesting stuff at zootmoney.org
Venue: Sunbury Cricket Club, Lower Hampton Road, TW16 5PS. Commences 8.30pm, £10 on the door. Food will be available as normal.
