The next music event at the Club is, of course, the inaugural SUNBURY BEER, WINE & MUSIC FESTIVAL on Saturday 16th September, which promises to be a great occasion, and which the Club hopes will become an annual fixture in the Sunbury social calendar, possibly in an expanded weekend form if it’s a success.

The Club will be presenting three bands during the day, all of them proven and popular Music Night favourites:

2pm SKELETON CREW Jug band blues, featuring Paul King from Mungo Jerry on guitar, banjo, mandolin, harmonica and squeezebox, Colin Pattenden from Manfred Mann’s Earth Band on bass, with Chris Bryant on guitar.

5.30pm THE MUSTANGS  High octane contemporary blues/rock from a band who played at Glastonbury this year, with Adam Norsworthy on vocals & guitar, Derek Kingaby on harmonica, Ben McKeown on bass and Jon Bartley on drums, who shares his musician life with his duties as co-leader of the Green Party. “The band no self-respecting blues festival can afford to be without” (R2 magazine)

9pm FIRE & WATER The great rock and blues singer Paul Cox returns with his rip-roaring show comprising the songs of Free, Bad Company and Led Zeppelin to close the evening, featuring among the band guitarist  Mike Summerland, who has worked over the years with Blodwyn Pig, Georgie Fame, William Bell and many others.

Tickets are £10 for the entire event, which goes from noon until midnight, and entitle you to a wristband, which gets you in and out of the event, a free souvenir pint glass and access to all the music, so it’s great value. There will be a wide selection of real ales, craft lagers and ciders, a gin bar and prosecco and wine bar, plus BBQ food and curries from 2pm.

Tickets are available in advance from the Club bar or online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/sunburysports. It makes sense to get them in advance as numbers may need to be capped during the day for safety reasons, and the club has already sold nearly 200 tickets. It’s an event that’s tailor-made for Music Night regulars, and the Club looks forward to seeing you all there.
