New Council Leader Pulls no Punches on Kempton Park Development

We don't know whether the new Council Leader, Cllr. Ian Harvey, was able to make it to the Redrow event at Kempton Park on Saturday (see article of 12th April below) but he has made his views very plain in an open letter to the developers, Redrow, which has been forwarded to LOSRA for publication.

Well done Councillor Harvey for giving a very clear message to Redrow! The residents of Sunbury keep being told that the gross lack of infrastructure in Sunbury is not an appropriate planning objection. I suppose that means that until it is, the number of people dying of one one of the worse air pollution spots " in the land" , i.e Sunbury X AND people still queing at 7 am at the Health Centre including mothers with children and the elderly to (hopefully) get an appt. will continue? A recent study of more then 66,000 over -65s found a 10 microgram rise from diesel fumes increased the risk of cancer deaths by 22 per cent, not mentioning here the number of asthma related deaths. In the meantime LOSRA is working hard with the Health Centre staff to improve it's situation however it remains a travesty that planning approvals/ applications have supposedly no regard to infrastructure. Again thank you Councillor Harvey for your support.

I certainly was there and made my views (which I think are representative of the village) known in very clear and unambiguous terms to Redrow.

Well said Cousellor Harvey! At last the council is listening to local residents concerns!

    Thank you Counsellor Harvey.

The opening question in your letter is the one many local people have been asking repeatedly (including at the Hazlewood public meeting). Raising it with Redrow's people at last Saturday's Kempton Park event was simply met with obfuscation.

Such a clear response now from Spelthorne at political level is well overdue but no less welcome for that.
