The Nashville Teens to Kick Off New Year at Sunbury Cricket Club on 8th January

Once again, on Friday 8th January the SCC welcomes back The Nashville Teens to kick off the New Year in style with their trademark brand of hard-hitting 60s R&B, featuring, of course, their two memorable 1964 Top Ten hits with “Tobacco Road” and “Google Eye - their epic version of “Tobacco Road” is always a worthy highlight of the show.

The line-up features their original lead singer Ray Phillips, who has had an unbroken half-century career with the band, as well as making solo records and performing with other line-ups like the British Invasion All-Stars with members of The Yardbirds, Creation and Downliners Sect.  With him in the current Nashville Teens is an array of seasoned performers, including Colin Pattenden, member of Manfred Mann’s Earth band when they had their big hits back in the 70s, on bass, with Simon Spratley of The Ian Campbell Blues Band on keyboards, Ken Osborn from Levee Camp Moan on guitar and Adrian ‘Spud’ Metcalf on drums.

It will be another rousing night of to get the new season of Music Nights under way, featuring in Ray one of the great voices of the beat era.

I asked the environment agency about the boat, and the lack of dredging. On the boat they said "With regard to the ‘half submerged boat at Sunbury’ you mention, whilst I appreciate it may be an eyesore, if it was a danger, I’m sure it would have been removed before now."

It was an 'in brief' article at the bottom of page 1, Surrey Advertiser which reads :

The owners of two boats at docks in Spelthorne have been warned by Spelthorne Borough Council they could be destroyed after it deemed the vessels as 'abandoned'

The sunken Aegean Mist at Dockett Eddy Lane, Shepperton, and partially sunken St. George 111 at Kings Lawn in Sunbury are to be removed on December 19th.

It seems as though this date has been overshot. It may be that the river has been too swollen to effect removal. Ed.

Just wondered if Losra has worked out if anyone has the responsibility for removing the wreck of a boat opposite St Marys Church - I guess it's been there for up to 12 months. Or maybe nobody owns up to having that responsibility, or they have no budget or they've made the "inspector of wrecks" redundant, and it's all too difficult and it just has to biodegrade by itself as best it might.... just wondered.
